2006 FAC Reunion/Memorial Dedication DVD Set
$5.95
This is a 3 DVD set from the FAC Assn 2006 reunion which includes a great DVD of the entire Dedication of the FAC Memorial. It includes all the talks from the FAC symposium, the USAF Band concert, some "War Stories" and the actual construction of the Memorial. Nicely cased.
Learn MoreBat 21-The Rescue
$35.00
The Rescue of Bat 21 by Darrel Whitcomb, Military Aviator and Decorated SEA veteran. The author not only has "researched" the story, but was there "in it". This is the BEST book on the BAT 21 SAR ... period. This hugely complicated SAR took place amid the massive North Vietnamese invasion of the South , when BAT 21 an unarmed EB-66, was shot down by a SA-2, commencing a SAR that was fully interwoven with the massive land battle going on below it. Hard bound. Inscribed by the author.
Learn MoreNail '67-68
$26.50
Nail '67-68 is a historical novel that closely follows the actual events in the combat tours in SEA of the two authors, Pat Sweeney and Jerry Dwyer. During 1967-68 the North Vietnamese supplied their war effort in South Vietnam by using the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos. The USAF Forward Air Controllers (FACs) of the 23d Tass, the Nails, flew the low and slow Cessna O-2A aircraft, and directed the airstrikes against these trucks on the trail, and their defending anti-aircraft guns. Sometimes they were successful, sometime they were not, sometimes they died, sometimes they were lost, and all were affected by their experiances. This is their story.
This is the second volume of a four or five volume series on the 23d TASS at NKP. The first in the series that goes from Jan 66 though to Spring 67 where Nail '67-68 starts, is "under construction". Authors Pat Sweeney and Ned Helm are curently contacting all "Early Nails and Gombeys" to get their inputs.
Steel Tiger by Mark Berent
$30.00
Mark Berent walked (drove actually) into my life when he was Papa Wolf, the Air Attache at Phnom Penh. He and fellow Rustic FAC Rick Scaling chased my burning OV-10 down the runway at Papa Papa in Mark's staff car!
He had been a Hun driver in SVN, the head Wolf FAC at Ubon (thus the nom de guerre of Papa Wolf), and finished his third tour in Phnom Penh as assistant Air Attache, and then as Air Attache. A bit of trivia..has there ever been a final approving authority in SEA other than Blue Chip? YES...it was Mark Berent during the period when Blue Chip was in transit from Saigon to NKP. He was quite literally the MAN!
Mark has written a series of five historical novels set it SEA stretching from 1965 to 1973. The are largely out of print but he has been kind enough to offer the last two titles he has left for sale through The Yankee Air Pirate. All books are First Edition hardbound with dust covers which are also in excellent condition. All books have been inscribed by Papa Wolf...

Mark Berent
aka Papa Wolf
Steel Tiger is set in 1967 and is the second in the series and follows the tours of fighter pilots, FACs, SOG warriors, Presidential advisors, and in this book, even a Soviet Fighter pilot.
You will, in all probability see yourself in his books because his characters are not figments of his imagination...there were his Buds and his enemies.

Storm Flight is the fifth and last (so far!) in the series . It covers the period from 1970 through 1973. It starts with the Son Tay Raid and ends with the 11 days of Christmas. As with all of his book, this one reads at a ferocious pace and is historically correct to the smallest detail. As noted on the other listing for Steel Tiger you may find yourself in this book!
Learn MoreVietnam and Cambodia-Recalled
$29.50
Bill Sleigh was a "Rustic" FAC flying out of Bien Hoa in the "Secret" war in Cambodia in his OV-10A Bronco. This a truthful rendering of that years tour away from "the land of the Big BX". This is how it really was...the daily grind...the occasional AWESOME misson. Hardbound.
Learn MoreViper 7
$20.00
Viper 7 became the Forward Air Controller call-sign of the author when he was transformed from a USAF transport pilot, into a lean medan fighting machine...in only four weeks! On completion of his "training" he was assigned to support US Special Forcesfighting on the Cambodian border.
